Correct shaking/stirring before spraying is very important
Cerakote solids and solvents separate and settle over time. Therefore, it is important that the solids and solvents are thoroughly mixed together. If Cerakote is not properly mixed, it will result in an uneven ratio of these components, which will, in turn, lead to a coating that is solvent-rich and will have a glossy or translucent appearance. Without agitation, the coating will be obviously inconsistent. If a bottle has not been properly agitated, the coating will also be more viscous (thicker), which will lead to poor sprayability, aesthetics, and performance.
Cerakote solids and solvents separate and settle over time. Therefore, when handling Cerakote by hand, shake vigorously. We recommend using a paint shaker for proper mixing, see below for recommended mixing times.
Recommended Shaking Times
| Paint Shaker | von Hand |
|---|---|
| Tester: 5 Minuten | Tester: 5 Minuten |
| Pint: 5 Minuten | Pint: 10 Minuten |
| Quart: 10 Minuten | Quart: 10-15 Minuten |
The following Cerakote coatings are thicker and need to be shaken for a few extra minutes:
- C-Series
- Glacier Series
- All Specialty Coatings
Helpful Tip: To aid in mixing, you can drop degreased marbles or hex nuts into the Cerakote bottle to assist with agitation.
